Harvard Yale "The Game" International Web Streaming

The Saturday before Thanksgiving marks the annual playing of "The Game," Harvard vs. Yale. On Saturday, November 19, 2011, the 2011 Ivy League Champion Harvard Crimson faced off against the Yale Bulldogs for the 128th playing of The Game. Alumni, friends, and family arrived at Yale Bowl early to revel in the atmosphere and cheer on their team. Meanwhile, alumni around the world were gathering with their local Harvard Clubs to cheer on the Crimson from locations in California to Beijing.

Since The Game has been nationally televised, Harvard Clubs across the United States have organized virtual tailgates, or watch parties, with their local Yale Clubs. Some Harvard Clubs report this is as one of their largest attended events annually. With the vibrant Harvard Club network outside the US and the national broadcast area for VERSUS TV (the broadcast company for The Game since 2008), the Harvard Alumni Association and the Association of Yale Alumni provided secure web stream access to all interested Harvard Clubs for the first time. This year, Clubs in Athens, Beijing, London, Johannesburg, Shanghai, Singapore, and Stockholm took advantage of this opportunity to engage alumni around this fall tradition. Events brought together alumni from both schools and ranged from 25 to 120 participants. There were even sightings of former gridiron stars like Cheng Ho AB '10, as far away as Beijing.

We hope to continue this tradition for years to come and encourage Clubs to explore new ways to bring Harvard back to their alumni.
